Report: Guardiola's Bayern Munich failed in attempt to sign Vedran Corluka

Former Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur defender remains with Lokomotiv Moscow.

Bayern Munich failed in a surprise move to sign veteran defender Vedran Corluka this January, report Tuttomercatoweb.

The German side signed Serdar Tasci from Spartak Moscow to strengthen their defence, but it is claimed Lokomotiv Moscow defender Corluka was actually their first choice.

Corluka, 30, is known to Premier League fans for spells at Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City.

The Croatian international right-back signed for Manchester City in 2007, before being bought by Tottenham a year later, where he remained until 2012, becoming a reliable option for Harry Redknapp.

He has remained with Lokomotiv Moscow ever since, making more than 100 appearances for the Russian side.

Last summer he was linked with joining former national team boss Slaven Bilic at West Ham by The Mirror.

The interest of Bayern boss Pep Guardiola in his services may stir the interest of Manchester City fans, in case the Spaniard has any desire to bring him back to the club when he takes over in the summer.
