Everton making another very classy gesture and we love it!
Who doesn't dream of scoring a goal for the team you support, in front of all your home fans? We're pretty sure that any football fan – no matter how old they are – really would love to get the chance to bang one in and celebrate with the team they support.
Sadly, for the majority of us, the closest we come is simply dreaming about it. However, there was one lucky Everton fan who got to do just that.
Earlier this month, 9-year-old Everton fan George Shaw was given the chance to score a goal in front of the Goodison faithful after a video of him playing football went viral.
But what sets George apart from every other young football fan? Well, the young man suffers from cerebral palsy -- but that doesn't stop him from playing the sport he loves.
And while his goal and Everton's classy gesture really touched us, the Toffees decided not to stop there and have now given George another moment to remember...
Yep, George beat Ross Barkley's stunner to the goal of the month! And speaking to Everton's official club website, George revealed his delight at picking up the unexpected award: "I never thought I would win. I thought I’d come close because of all the support I’ve had but I can’t believe I won!" said George on learning of his victory.
"Thank you so much to everyone who voted for me. I can’t wait for the End of Season Awards now. It will be great.”
Lovely stuff! We wonder if Roberto Martinez might call upon George to lead the line... you know just incase Romelu Lukaku gets injured.
