Gary Lineker reacts to Daniel Sturridge's performance for Liverpool

Gary Lineker was impressed with Daniel Sturridge's performance for Liverpool.

Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge made his comeback for the Reds in last night's FA Cup clash against West Ham.

The Reds went down to a 2-1 defeat, conceding a last minute extra time header to centre-back Angelo Ogbonna.

It is always galling for a team to play 120 minutes midweek and end up on the losing team, but Sturridge's return was a positive, with the forward coming through his cameo unscathed.

Match of the Day host Gary Lineker was impressed with his display, taking Twitter to praise the forward.

Amid Sturridge's frustrating battle to get fit and stay healthy, his high level of performance can often be forgotten or swept to one side.

If he is fully fit then he usually finds a way to score, and the timing of his return is good for Liverpool with the Capital One Cup final coming up.

An England international call up for Euro 2016 will surely follow too if he stays fit between now and the end of the season, but for Liverpool's sake it would be best if Roy Hodgson left him out of the squad for the upcoming friendly match with Germany in March.
