West Brom's Ben Foster raves about the quality in Newcastle United's squad

West Bromwich Albion were beaten 1-0 by Newcastle United last weekend.

West Bromwich Albion goalkeeper Ben Foster has praised Newcastle United’s team in the Express and Star.

Foster saw Newcastle’s quality first-hand last weekend, as his side were beaten 1-0 by the Mapgies.

And the England international suggests that Newcastle fully deserved to pick up the three points in the fixture, as they put in such a good performance.

“They were brilliant, they were on the front foot from the very first minute, they were whipping balls into the box right left and centre and they put us under the cosh from the first minute,” he said.

“Fair play to them, they’ve spent a bit of cash, you can see the quality they’ve got in the team, Andros Townsend and Jonjo Shelvey, they’re the sort of players who will get you out of trouble when you’re in it.”

Newcastle’s victory over West Brom could have been even more comfortable had they taken all their chances, but the performance was an encouraging one.

Steve McClaren’s side are now out of the relegation zone, and their new recruits appear to have added a spark to their play.

Newcastle looked dangerous going forward against West Brom, and they rarely let Tony Pulis’ side threaten them at the back.

The Magpies are still unbeaten at home in 2016, and they will be hoping that they can start to climb the table over the coming weeks, after finally making out of the bottom three.
