Leicester City's improbable yet realistic title charge has stunned the football world, and Sunderland's Jermain Defoe is using it as inspiration.
Speaking to the Chronicle, the striker asks if Leicester can go from relegation battler to title challengers, why shouldn't they aspire to do the same?
He said: "Leicester is an unbelievable story, they won on Saturday but you look at clubs like that – if they can do it why can’t we?
"I think we have good players here and that has shown in the last two games. If we continue to work hard together then hopefully we will get the results and do it soon. We need to get out of this position.”
For Sunderland it is one step at a time, and Defoe is right to focus on simply avoiding relegation.
Newcastle's win at the weekend makes survival that bit more difficult despite their own creditable draw at Liverpool.
Yet watching Leicester beat Manchester City and sit five points clear at the top of the Premier League makes it so easy to forget they were in Sunderland's position last season, and managed to turn it around with a late run of form.
Their end of season form a year ago led to the side having a spring in their step over summer and able to kick on early this season, leading to their astounding set of results this campaign.
