According to a report on Sky Sports, Tottenham Hotspur’s coaches believe that Cameron Carter-Vickers could become the next Ledley King.
Carter-Vickers has impressed at youth level for Spurs, with his performance at development level catching the eye.
Although the defender is still only 18-years-old, he has become a regular for the Lilywhites’ under-21 side, and he has not looked out of his depth.
The American youth international is blessed with great pace and power, while he also is comfortable in possession.
Mauricio Pochettino reportedly has confidence in Carter-Vickers, and believes that he could become a key player for Spurs in the future.
With Federico Fazio leaving White Hart Lane in January, there was an expectation that Spurs would try and sign a centre-back, but Pochettino instead felt that Carter-Vickers was ready for a promotion.
The Argentine has shown great faith in Tottenham’s youth prospects, and he did not want to block Carter-Vickers’ path to the first-team by bringing in a new senior player.
The likes of Harry Kane, Nabil Bentaleb, Ryan Mason and Danny Rose have all progressed under Pochettino’s stewardship, and Carter-Vickers will be hoping to follow in their footsteps.
