The Championship side wanted to sign the 20-year-old on loan during the January transfer window.
The Scottish Sun claims that the Championship side wanted to sign the attacking midfielder on loan during the January transfer window, but the move fell through. However, it appears that David Wagner is still intent on bringing the youngster to the John Smith's Stadium.
The 20-year-old joined the Portuguese giants from Dundee United for £3m in 2014 (via The Scottish Sun), but has yet to make a major impact for the side. He is yet to add to his two appearances from last season for the club, but has featured much more prominently for the second team.
He has scored four times in 22 appearances for the side who play in the Portuguese second tier, which makes him the team's joint second highest goalscorer this season.
And Wagner will be hoping that should they be able to bring him to the Terriers, he will be able to make a similar impact for their team, and perhaps help lift them towards the top half of the table.
