Former Leeds United manager Neil Warnock suggested on the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast show on talkSPORT on Tuesday morning (February 9) that he has been impressed with Sheffield Wednesday this season.
Carlos Carvalhal’s side are sixth in the league table at the moment with 50 points from 30 matches. The Owls occupy the final playoff spot, and there is a good chance that they will not slip out of the top six.
“The manager there has done really well,” said Warnock on the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast show on talkSPORT on Tuesday morning (February 9). “The contacts up in Sheffield I have got, and they are saying that this is the best team they have got for many, many years.”
One of Wednesday’s best players so far this season has been Gary Hooper, who joined the Owls from Norwich City on a permanent contract in the January transfer window.
The 28-year-old forward has scored nine goals and created 17 chances in 14 Championship appearances for Wednesday.
The former Celtic man has a pass accuracy of 81% and a shot accuracy of 52%, and has won 15 headers, six dribbles and six tackles.
About Hooper, Warnock said: “I look at the pace they have got in the side, and I think Hooper, he can score the goals. He is a good finisher, he is going to get chances.”
