That tally would surely put them in the play-off picture.
Whisper it if you dare and don't tell Dougie Freedman but Nottingham Forest are in the running for the play-offs in the Championship.
The City Ground has become an area of mooted optimism recently - Forest trying their utmost to slip under the radar.
But there is little doubt that the club are in with a genuine shout of making the top six.
Currently they are 10th and eight points behind Sheffield Wednesday in sixth spot - with Ipswich Town, Birmingham City and Cardiff blocking their path.
But teams are bound to slip up - look at recent slumps from Brighton and Hove Albion and local rivals Derby County.
Last season 78 points was the necessary points tally to make it into the play-off picture - Forest could seriously get 80.
Looking at their fixtures and considering the fact they are unbeaten in the Championship since November, Forest are genuinely a threat.
You would back them to win fixtures against Huddersfield Town, Bristol City, Preston, Brentford, Rotherham, Fulham, Blackburn and MK Dons - that is 24 points right there - taking their tally to 66, 14 shy.
But given their current form you would have to also consider the fact they could win at home v the likes of Wolves, Brighton and Sheffield Wednesday - as well on their travels to Reading, Ipswich and rivals Derby. Say they win four of those games and draw another two and there you have it, Forest on 80 points for the season.
When you break it down and look at form and their upcoming opponents Forest need to be taking seriously this season.
