Former Celtic striker Chris Sutton suggested on BBC Radio 5 live Sport last Friday evening (February 5) that Tottenham Hotspur should have signed a striker in the January transfer window.
The former Norwich City and Blackburn Rovers man also admitted that Tottenham have proved him wrong with their performances in the Premier League this season.
“I think Tottenham may have made a mistake not signing another centre-forward in the window,” said Sutton on BBC Radio 5 live Sport last Friday evening (February 5). “I have got them wrong this season, they have certainly proved me wrong.”
Many Premier League observers will agree with Sutton about Tottenham not signing a striker in the January transfer window.
Harry Kane is Spurs’ first-choice striker, and an injury to him will be a massive blow. However, one cannot say for sure that the England international striker will get injured.
Moreover, it is not easy to find a striker who is happy to play second fiddle and be used as a back-up.
Tottenham are second in the Premier League table at the moment with 48 points from 25 matches. The North London outfit are five points behind leaders Leicester City and are very much in the running for the league title.
