Andrea Pirlo selects his current Premier League XI

Stars from Manchester City, Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool all make his team.

Football legend Andrea Pirlo has named his current Premier League XI in an interview with Shortlist.

And it seems the former Juventus midfielder, who has won two Champions Leagues and a World Cup in a glittering career, is a secret Manchester City fan as he picked no fewer than five of their stars.

Elsewhere three Arsenal stars, two Chelsea players and one Liverpool man all the make the cut in this star studded line up.

Going with a solid 4-5-1 formation, Pirlo plumped for Joe Hart in goal, who for many is a surprise choice ahead of the likes David de Gea and Thibaut Courtois.

Fellow City star Vincent Kompany is in central defence alongside Chelsea stalwart John Terry, with Branislav Ivanovic and Nacho Monreal filling in the full back positions.

Indeed, it seems that Pirlo is of the thought that Chelsea should offer their captain a new deal, telling Shortlist that “these are the types of player that are impossible to replace.”

Moving onto midfield, Yaya Toure and Philippe Coutinho are Pirlo’s midfield partnership, with Mesut Ozil on the left wing and Kevin de Bruyne on the right wing.

In the attacking midfield position is Alexis Sanchez, who many would arguably put on the left instead of Ozil.

The Italian is clearly a fan of the duo though, labelling Ozil as “the most creative player in Europe right now” while he says Sanchez “has shown Arsenal how good he is” after struggling to get credit at Barcelona alongside Lionel Messi.

Rounding off the team is striker Sergio Aguero, with Pirlo labelling the Argentine as “one of the best strikers in the world.”
