Leicester have taken much of the acclaim this season, after rising to the top of the Premier League standings.
The Foxes’ rise has allowed Tottenham to go under the radar, and Shearer believes that Mauricio Pochettino’s side are benefitting from being allowed to go about their business quietly.
"The other big match is Man City v Spurs," Shearer said.
"In a strange way it might be beneficial for Spurs that Leicester are taking all the headlines and keeping the spotlight away from their success. They are going along nicely without too much pressure.
"Pochettino is doing a magnificent job there. So it might just help them if they can keep within half a length of Leicester and come with a late charge."
In most other seasons, Spurs elevating themselves into second place would have been treated as a shock, but Pochettino’s side have escaped most of the headlines.
Tottenham have simply continued to rise up the top-flight standings, by showing great consistency throughout the season.
Whereas old Spurs teams have been guilty of choking when the pressure is on, Pochettino’s team have looked assured, despite their lofty position.
Tottenham are currently unbeaten in their last six matches in all competitions, and if they are able to defeat Manchester City at the weekend, they would really strengthen their position in the top four.
