Report updates Aguero's contract situation at Manchester City, deal wanted before summer

Sergio Aguero could be in line for a contract extension at Manchester City.

According to the Daily Mail, Manchester City have opened talks with Sergio Aguero's representatives, and want a new one-year extension agreed before the summer.

City were disappointing in their 3-1 loss to Leicester City on Saturday afternoon, but striker Aguero was one of the few players to come out of the game with any credit.

The Argentine striker, 27, scored City's only goal of the game, meaning he has now found the net in each of his last five games for City, and has nine goals in his last ten appearances.

It's a superb run of form for arguably the Premier League's best striker when fit, as injury problems have troubled him on numerous occasions since signing from Atletico Madrid back in 2011.

Now, the Daily Mail report that whilst Aguero's contract at the Etihad Stadium expires in 2019, City want to extend that deal by one more year.

It's stated that City are hoping to agree a deal before the summer, and keep him until 2020 before the striker returns to his former club Independiente in his native Argentina.

With 124 goals in 188 games for City, Aguero will go down a legend at the Etihad Stadium - and it seems that fans may get an extra year of him in sky blue, if the contract extension can be agreed.

Would you be happy to see Aguero extend his contract at City?
