Everton thrashed Stoke City 3-0 on Saturday afternoon.
Pundit Paul Merson has told Sky Sports that he thinks Everton would be in the top four if they consistently performed as they did against Stoke City.
After hammering Newcastle United 3-0 in midweek, Everton travelled to take on a struggling Stoke City side, and again won 3-0 thanks to goals from Romelu Lukaku, Seamus Coleman and Aaron Lennon.
The recent results take some of the pressure off manager Roberto Martinez, who has come in for criticism recently after a host of poor performances from his Toffees team.
Many have stated that the Spaniard is underachieving this season, and that Everton should in fact be pushing for the European places, whereas they have recently been sitting in the bottom half of the table before shooting up to eighth over the weekend.
With top young talents like John Stones, Ross Barkley, Gerard Deulofeu and the aforementioned Lukaku, Everton certainly have the quality in their side to be a real force in the Premier League, but haven't quite found the right formula this season.
Now, pundit Paul Merson has told Sky Sports that he thinks Everton fans must be so frustrated, because he feels the Toffees would be in the top four if they could perform as well as they did against Stoke on a more regular basis.
"It must be so frustrating being a fan, because when they're like that, they should be in the top four," said Merson. "I've watched them a lot this season, they were better than Leicester, got beat. Better than Stoke at home, got beat. [Against Stoke] everything clicked, I thought they were absolutely outstanding from goalkeeper to Lukaku up front."
