Nasser El Khayati is convinced he'll improve at Queens Park Rangers

Queens Park Rangers signed Nasser El Khayati from Burton Albion in the January transfer window.

Queens Park Rangers new boy Nasser El Khayati has told Get West London that he is convinced he will improve under Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink’s tutelage.

El Khayati moved to QPR in the closing stages of the January transfer window, and the winger knows Hasselbaink well, having worked with the Dutchman at Burton Albion.

And El Khayati is convinced that he is at the right club, as he looks to make the step up to Championship level.

“For me, it’s just a feeling; and I don’t know what is. I just feel I can progress under him," the Egyptian said. "I am very happy to be here."

El Khayati has already made a good impression at QPR, as he came off the bench to set up the winner against Ipswich Town on Saturday.

Rangers looked set to be heading towards a 0-0 draw with Mick McCarthy’s side, but El Khayati’s cross-cum-shot was turned in by Matt Phillips in the 88th minute.

The win was Hasselbaink’s first at Loftus Road since he took charge back at the start of December, and El Khayati believes that the club will push on now.

"I think he needs time, but he will definitely take them back to the Premiership," he added. "He was a legend at Chelsea; nobody has to tell you he did a very good job at Burton, but now it’s new chapter for him at a massive club like QPR.”

QPR are currently in 13th place in the Championship table, and they are 11 points back from the play off places.
