Micky Hazard responds to Stuart Pearce’s bold prediction about Premier League title race

Arsenal, Leicester City, Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City are all in the running for the Premier League title this season.

Former Newcastle United defender Stuart Pearce has told Sky Sports that the Premier League title race will be over if Leicester City win against Arsenal next weekend.

Leaders Leicester will take on Arsenal away from home at the Emirates Stadium in North London this coming Sunday.

Pearce believes that if the Foxes pick up all three points from the encounter, then they will win the league title this season.

"This game on Sunday - if they end up winning that it's over,” the former Nottingham Forest manager told Sky Sports. “I think it's over anyway. I think Leicester will win the league. If they win on Sunday the rest of the football world will stop writing them off.”

Former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Micky Hazard does not agree with Pearce and has posted the following message on Twitter:

If Leicester win against Arsenal next weekend, then they will go eight points clear of the Gunners.

However, if Tottenham get the better of Manchester City away from home at the Etihad Stadium this coming Sunday, then the gap between the Foxes and the second-placed team - Spurs - will remain five points.

Even if Spurs lose or draw and Leicester win, it will not be the end of the Premier League title race. After all, there will still be 12 rounds of matches remaining.

When City won five successive Premier League matches at the start of the season, there were suggestions that they would run away with the league.

Did it happen? No.
