Merson dismisses Leicester City's title chances

Leicester City

Paul Merson does not believe Leicester City will win the league.

Leicester City's stunning win away at Manchester City has most of England believing the Foxes can pull off an unlikely title triumph.

Paul Merson does not fit into that category, telling SkySports he does not feel a league title win is going to happen.

He does however feel Claudio Ranieri's side will finish comfortably in the top four, qualifying for the Champions League.

He said: "No [they can't win the title] because if Arsenal beat them next week they're two points behind them - that's how quickly it changes. They're top four, and I've just written Manchester United off today."

Leicester are full of confidence having beaten Liverpool and Manchester City in the past week, but a visit to Arsenal is a different proposition.

The Gunners inflicted one of just two league defeats Leicester have suffered this season, a memorable 5-2 win which saw Alexis Sanchez score a hat-trick.

Get through the game at The Emirates next weekend without a loss, and Leicester may even persuade the last doubters, including Merson, that they succeed in their quest to win the Premier League title.
