Former Newcastle United head coach John Carver said on BBC Radio 5 live Sport last Friday evening (February 5) that Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane will never be able to reach the level of Sergio Aguero.
Carver also claimed that Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy will never be as good as the Manchester City star.
“Not at the moment, and I don’t think Vardy ever will be and I don’t think Kane will ever be,” said the Englishman when asked if Kane and Vardy are at the same level as striker Aguero.
Aguero is easily the best striker in the Premier League and arguably the best in the world. The 27-year-old’s movement, passing ability, tactical intelligence, vision and shooting prowess are superb.
The City striker also has pace and strength, and only injuries in recent years have stopped him from getting more goals than he already has.
During the 2013-14 campaign, Aguero scored 17 goals in 23 Premier League appearances, while last season he found the net 26 times in 33 league matches.
The former Atletico Madrid star has scored 14 goals in 18 Premier League games so far this campaign.
While Vardy is having a great season for Leicester, it must be remembered that it is only this campaign that he is scoring regularly in the Premier League. Moreover, the England international is 29 years of age.
Harry Kane does have a chance of taking himself to the level of Aguero in the coming years. The Tottenham striker is only 22 years of age, and he has shown this term that he is not a one-season wonder.
The England international is a very good player and has abundance of confidence, and Spurs fans will hope that he continues to develop in the coming years.
