Memphis Depay is an exciting talent with a bright future ahead of him - but remains a player with a lot to learn.
The 21-year-old gave the ball away in the 90th minute of United's clash against Chelsea, attempting to square a simple pass to Morgan Schneiderlin, when he also could have ran the ball into the corner instead.
United were 1-0 up at the time, attempting to see out a hard fought victory at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea seized the initiative on getting the ball back, with Diego Costa going onto score a vital equaliser for the Blues.
Depay, on as a second half substitute, was roundly criticised for his error. One to blast him was former Liverpool footballer Jason McAteer.
Depay.... What was he doing ? Cost United. Poor sloppy play then couldn't be bothered getting back— Jason MCATEER (@MCATEER4) February 7, 2016
Depay has already lost his place in United's starting XI, trusted only for a late few minutes against Chelsea in such a big game.
His costly error could mean the Louis van Gaal gives his star summer signing even less chances moving forward.
