Pep Guardiola has brought on the Austrian international leaps and bounds at the Allianz Arena.
They lost 3-1 to title rivals Leicester City to slip down the table, but will be odds on favourites for next season with Bayern Munich boss Pep Guardiola taking over.
The Spaniard, who has enjoyed unprecedented success with Barcelona and Bayern, is taking over from Manuel Pellegrini in the summer.
Of course that is likely to see plenty of players come through the door at The Etihad - including those he currently works with at Bayern.
But if he was to sign one player from the Bavarians then surely it should be Austrian international David Alaba.
Aleksandar Kolarov and Gael Clichy are hardly inspiring at left-back for City and Alaba would be an excellent replacement. Not only is he capable of playing at full-back but he can play on the wing, in central midfield and even central defence - he would be a coup of a signing.
If Manchester City are going to move for any Bayern player this summer then it should be the 23-year-old star.
