The news was broken on Monday evening, with the Rams on a poor fun of form after picking up no wins in the last seven games.
They have three draws in that period, but due to the great form at the beginning of the season, the Rams remain in promotion contention, with 51 points from 30 games.
They have spent heavily on their playing squad, and are certainly one of the favourites for promotion in what is a very competitive league, and Clement leaves the iPro Stadium with a win record of 42.4%, and having taken the average of 1.64 points per game over his spell.
Considered one of the best rated young coaches in English football, it seems a strange decision to sack Clement after only hiring him in the summer, especially if it is only down to recent results.
It is not known if there are issues in the background which are behind the sacking, but right now the move to sack Clement looks foolish.
Following the news, Derby fans took to Twitter to react to the dreadful news that Clement has been fired after having nowhere near enough time to prove himself.
I'm shocked at the pro Clement sentiment. People say sacking is embarrassing, but performances simply not good enough all season. #dcfc— Adrian Fern (@DCFC100) February 8, 2016
Clement deserved the job until the end of the season! Awful decision! #DCFC— Ash Poulter (@ashpoulter123) February 8, 2016
How can you slag Mel Morris off he's clearly an ambitious man and clement was drowning fully behind the boys till the end #dcfc— Dan (@dandcfc1884) February 8, 2016
Derby statement also bizarre. Sacking Clement, not for table position and form, but for failing to build on 'The Derby Way'. Looney. #dcfc— Jack Westgarth (@J_Westgarth) February 8, 2016
Oh dear Derby. What have you done. Madness sacking Clement. Full on meltdown at #dcfc— Paul Andrews (@paulandrews22) February 8, 2016
To be fair Clement didn't have a clue what his best starting 11 should be. #dcfc— ♧ Ben ♧ (@BenDorrington95) February 8, 2016
