Former Norwich City and Aston Villa striker Chris Sutton said on BBC Radio 5 live Sport last Friday evening (February 5) that Sunderland will get relegated from the Premier League at the end of the season.
Sutton has backed Newcastle United to stay up, but he believes that his former club Norwich could go down to the Championship.
“I think they have the right man in charge, but Sunderland are down this season,” said the former England international.
“I fear for Norwich, I really do,” added Sutton, who had this to say about Newcastle: “Just with the money Newcastle have spent, the strength in depth, I think they might just scrap out. I worry about Norwich.”
Villa are at the foot of the Premier League table at the moment, and they appear to be doomed for relegation to the Championship.
Sunderland and Norwich make up the bottom three, while Newcastle are just a place and a point above the relegation zone.
Newcastle are severely underachieving, as head coach Steve McClaren has a squad that should at least be pushing for the top 10.
It should not come as a surprise to see Sunderland and Norwich struggling, while Swansea City, Bournemouth and West Bromwich Albion are very much in danger of going down.
