The right-back netted the winner against Watford yesterday.
It was tightly contested game but Spurs deserved the win. Watford goalkeeper and former Tottenham flop Heurelho Gomes was in inspired form in the Watford goal and Harry Kane's shooting boots deserted him in this fixture.
So Spurs needed to rely on a rather unlikely source to snatch the win, right-back Kieran Trippier.
The summer signing from Burnley scored his first goal for the club, and his first since New Year's Day 2014, in the 64th minute off of an excellent assist from Dele Alli.
After the game many a Spurs player took to Twitter to post their celebratory messages from the game.
Trippier was one of those players. He thanked the fans and expressed his delight at scoring his first goal for the club as Spurs moved into second place in the Premier League.
Great win today and delighted to get my first goal . Fans was unreal. #COYS— kieran trippier (@trippier2) February 6, 2016
Alli was one such player and he also had a message for Trippier after he found the back of the net:
Another strong performance by the team! Been a good week, now to prepare for the next #COYS— Dele Alli (@Dele_Alli) February 6, 2016
Trippier also got congratulations from star striker Harry Kane, left-back Ben Davies, midfielder Tom Carroll and reserve goalkeeper Luke McGee:
Important win today! Buzzing for @trippier2 getting the goal well In frodo lad— Tom Carroll (@tom_carroll92) February 6, 2016
Plenty of other Spurs players got in on the act as they moved closer to Leicester City at the top of the Premier League table.
