Guardiola is set to take over at Manchester City in the summer.
The former Barcelona manager is set to head to the Premier League in the summer, with Manchester City having reached an agreement for him to become their next manager.
In contrast, Mourinho is currently out of work at present after being sacked by Chelsea earlier in the season, but a report from BBC Sport this week saying he is in talks to take over at Manchester United.
The pair are arguably among the elite level managers in the game, and when questioned who he would prefer to play for, Hoddle says he would choose Guardiola.
“I just think if I was a player I’d want to play for him because of the way he plays and the style he plays,” he told Fletch and Sav.
“I think he’s done a great job under pressure at Barcelona and Bayern as well. His biggest test will be coming here [to the Premier League] there’s no doubt about that.
“But I think that’s what he wants; he wants a real test now. But Mourinho has been fantastic as well.”
What will be interesting to see from Guardiola is how he handles the competitive nature of the Premier League next season.
New managers are often caught out by that aspect of the league, with there being no easy wins in England’s top flight, something that is not the case in the likes of Spain and Germany.
Guardiola is likely to be surprised by that next season, and it will be interesting to see how he will deal with it in his first year in charge at the Etihad Stadium.
