The Sky Sports pundit has been discussing his former club... as well as his old foes Tottenham.
Indeed, making a claim both he and Arsenal fans will absolutely hate, Merson was adamant there is no question Tottenham are in a stronger position than their north London rivals right now.
And Mauricio Pochettino's men certainly have mathematical advantage at the moment, sitting second with a superior goal difference - although the Gunners will play Bournemouth on Sunday afternoon.
Merson told Sky Sports Soccer Saturday: "Before, everyone was talking about Man City but now, suddenly, we’re worrying about Tottenham.
"If you asked me today, Tottenham are bigger favourites than Arsenal for me, no question."
Without backing Spurs for the title (Leicester City are in pole position let's not forget), it's difficult to disagree with Merson's assessment.
Jose Mourinho was lambasted for branding Arsene Wenger a specialist in failure and karma was quick to hit him back.
But has Wenger been a specialist in success over the last decade? Two FA Cups aside, Arsenal have been huge chokers. That accusation has been leveled at Tottenham in the past, too, but Spurs look much healthier than their fragile north London rivals right now.
