The German has been in fine form for Arsene Wenger's side this season.
Fabregas broke through at the Emirates after signing from Barcelona as a youngster, and was the midfield linchpin for the Gunners for a number of years.
His sale to Barcelona saw the sorely lacking that creative force in midfield for several years, before the arrival of Mesut Ozil in a big money move from Real Madrid saw that gap properly filled.
The German has since gone on to become a star in Arsenal’s crown, and Szczesny believes he has surpassed what Fabregas managed during his time at the club.
"Previously, Cesc Fabregas was with us and I could not imagine that you could play better in the middle, but Ozil came and it turns out that you can," he told the Polish national team’s YouTube channel.
"When you have great technique, everything on the pitch feels slower and therefore you can react faster. It is true that he is something of a genius."
"In the beginning he was heavily criticised because Arsenal bought him for big money and he was expected to become the biggest star of the league. In training from the beginning it was evident that he was an exceptional player."
The Gunners will now be hoping that Ozil can push them towards the title in the games remaining to them.
He has arguably been their star man this season, with his 16 assists so far putting him far ahead of the competition in the Premier League.
That form has been key to them being in the title race at all, and if he were to lead them to that success this season, there would be no denying he has surpassed what Fabregas achieved during his spell.
