Nelson Oliveira suggests that Nottingham Forest can finish in the Championship playoffs this season.

Nottingham Forest striker Nelson Oliveira has told the club’s official website that his side can finish in the top six of the Championship this season.

Oliveira made the comments following Forest’s 1-0 victory over Leeds United away from home at Elland Road in the Championship on Saturday afternoon.

The result means that Dougie Freedman’s side are now unbeaten in 13 league games, leading the Benfica-owned striker to suggest that they can push for the playoffs.

“We continued the unbeaten run and now we have a home game,” Oliveira told Forest’s official website. “If we win – and I think we can win – we can start thinking about the play-offs. In the last 15 games we have looked stronger both away and at home.”

Forest are 10th in the Championship table at the moment with 42 points from 30 matches. The Reds are eight points behind Sheffield Wednesday, who are currently sixth in the table and occupy the final playoff spot.

Freedman’s side will tale on Huddersfield Town at the City Ground in the league next weekend. The Terriers are in the lower half of the table at the moment, and Forest will be expected to win.

A top-six finish is still possible for the Reds, but for that to happen, they need to maintain their current run of good form and win their home matches.
