Marco van Ginkel scores on PSV Eindhoven debut after ending Stoke City loan

The midfielder enjoyed a great start to his PSV career.

In one of the final acts of Transfer Deadline day Stoke City cancelled the loan contract of Marco van Ginkel after securing the record signing of Gianelli Imbula.

He returned to Chelsea but did not stick around for long, immediately going out on loan to PSV Eindhoven.

The Dutchman's career in England has been heavily impacted by injury issues - after suffering knee ligament damage early in his Chelsea career.

His loan switch to Stoke City was supposed to be a Premier League ice-breaker, but it never really happened for him at the Britannia Stadium.

He played 21 times for the club, mostly as a substitute, and failed to score a goal for The Potters.

The 23-year-old has had a much more immediate impact at PSV.

He made his debut for the club against FC Utrecht today, and scored in the 2-0 win. He took advantage of some poor defending from his opponents to slot home a left footed strike in to the bottom corner.

Stoke fans know how talented the player is, even if he struggled to show it with the club. But Chelsea fans will now be keen for him to continue his progression in Holland.
