Could Milos Veljkovic get first-team chance sooner than expected after his new team were hammered 5-1?

Having left Tottenham Hotspur it may not be too long before Milos Veljkovic is starting for struggling Werder Bremen.

Milos Veljkovic completed his move from Tottenham Hotspur to Werder Bremen during the January transfer window, and the young Serbian would no doubt have been hoping his permanent switch marked a new dawn in his career.

After all, the 20-year-old – who is equally comfortable at centre-back or as a holding midfielder – had managed only three first-team appearances for Tottenham having come through the youth ranks at White Hart Lane.

Given his age and inexperience, he was never going to walk straight into Bremen’s starting line-up despite their struggles in the Bundesliga this season.

However, it may not be too long before he is featuring regularly for his new side after he watched from the bench as they were hammered 5-1 by Borussia Monchengladbach on Friday.

Bremen were away from home but they were completely outplayed and their defence must do a lot better in the weeks ahead.

For a young defender to arrive and watch from the substitutes’ bench as his new side's back-line is completely overrun must be a bittersweet feeling.

After all, he will now know that if he impresses in training and continues on the trajectory some Tottenham supporters expect him to, he should be starting before too long.
