Arsenal overcame Bournemouth and kept a clean sheet in the process this weekend.
Arsenal defeated Bournemouth 2-0 at the Vitality Stadium on Sunday, with Mesut Ozil and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain scoring the goals.
It was an important win for the Gunners, with Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur and Leicester City all ahead of them heading into the fixture.
For all Arsenal’s attacking quality, their back-line also impressed, keeping the hosts at bay and ensuring Bournemouth managed just four shots on target in the entire match.
Arsenal’s defence has been relatively consistent this season, but this weekend manager Arsene Wenger opted to play Gabriel Paulista ahead of Per Mertesacker.
The Brazilian has looked good since he arrived at the Emirates Stadium just over a year ago, but to date he has not been able to force his way in ahead of the big German on a consistent basis.
After the match we took to Twitter to see what Arsenal fans thought of Gabriel’s latest performance and you can read a selection of what we found below:
Gabriel just needs to do basics well. He's not a good passer but doesn't need to be. Just defend. #AFC— Robdagooner (@RobWoodfin1) February 7, 2016
After seeing Gabriel's defensive performance today, he has to start over Mertesacker each game now. Been saying it for ages now. #AFC.— Ross Jeffries (@Ross_Jeffries) February 7, 2016
I am now convinced Gabriel is not a good defender. Just speed no brains. Per is better. #Afc— Andrew CABANA (@andrew_ogbeni11) February 7, 2016
