The Queens Park Rangers chairman was pleased after a 1-0 triumph over Ipswich Town.
good luck charms. Steve picked me in a cab and I invite him Jeff tweeted me for 4 years. Jordon and Dan also guests pic.twitter.com/GvYIz4oHcT— Tony Fernandes (@tonyfernandes) February 6, 2016
Tony Fernandes claimed this is 'the new QPR' after a 1-0 win against Ipswich Town on Saturday afternoon.
The R's remain 13th in the Championship but have closed the gap on those above them and it's always good for the home fans to see a win at Loftus Road.
Matt Phillips's late strike was enough to give QPR their first home win under Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink and Fernandes duly took to social media to celebrate.
Indeed, he claimed that this is a new version of the west London side on Twitter:
The new QPR. Makes a long flight back a lot nicer . Well done boys— Tony Fernandes (@tonyfernandes) February 6, 2016
Critics might say that's classic Fernandes - only tweeting when his side win and blowing any individual victory out of proportion.
QPR face a big clash against Fulham next week, during an exciting west London derby, and a bad result there will take the shine off the Ipswich victory, suggesting there's no 'new QPR' at all.
But Fernandes can certainly be allowed to celebrate this one. The R's look improved under Hasselbaink and it will be great for supporters if this does prove to be a new dawn at Loftus Road.
