Report: Everton set to offer Ross Barkley a new deal in the summer

The midfielder scored two goals in the midweek win over Newcastle United.

Everton are set to offer a new contract to star man Ross Barkley in the summer, reports the Daily Mail.

The young midfielder has returned to his best this season, with two goals in the 3-0 win over Newcastle United on Wednesday continuing an impressive season.

He already has 11 goals to his name this season, wit three in his last four alone, a marked improvement after a disappointing campaign last year.

That return to form has caused speculation about his future to flare up again, with him likely to have been scouted by several of Europe’s big sides, who may consider a substantial offer for his services in the summer.

The Blues are naturally keen to ward off that interest, and will offer him a new and improved deal to stay at Goodison Park for the foreseeable future, reports the Daily Mail.

He currently two-and-a-half years left to go on his current contract, which he signed in July 2014, and it is likely that Roberto Martinez would want to extend that considerably.

The 22-year-old clearly has a bright future ahead of him, and could be the diamond in a young side alongside the likes John Stones, Romelu Lukaku and Gerard Deulofeu that could challenge at the top in future.
