The Irishman has been ruled out for the rest of the season.
Dougie Freedman's men have seen the likes of Chris Cohen, who recently returned to action, Matty Fryatt and Britt Assombalonga all out with long term injury problems.
Another name on that list is mercurial midfield maestro Andy Reid.
The Irishman has not played since the East Midlands derby back in September 2014 with a serious groin injury.
He has therefore been out of action for 17 months with the problem and looks no nearer to a comeback.
Yesterday Dougie Freedman confirmed that Reid will be out for the rest of the season after undergoing an operation on his long-standing problem.
It is a massive blow to the player and the Forest fans have had mixed reactions to the news.
Many remember the talent that Reid possesses and will hope that he can get back to his best. Unfortunately others are not so keen. Reid is no spring chicken and his continued presence takes up big wages that could be used on other avenues - especially under their transfer embargo.
Here is how Forest fans reacted to Reid's latest injury update...
Should of paid Reid off, what a waste of a squad place under this embargo, same with fryatt #nffc— Ant (@ant_nffc) February 5, 2016
Feel v.dispirited to be a #nffc fan looking at Twitter today. Reid is the best player we've had this millenium, why the lack of sympathy?!— Joshua M Still (@MyDesireIs_) February 5, 2016
"Andy Reid out for the season." Yes because this is a massive surprise. Why don't they just admit that his playing days are over? #NFFC— Dan (@NFFC__LowerBC) February 5, 2016
Can see why fans are frustrated at Reid, but if they were in his place would they just retire or volunteer for a wage drop? Doubtful. #NFFC— Zap! I'm Ironic Wolf (@fritzromanov) February 5, 2016
If Reid thought oat of the club he would retire free another space up #nffc— Jordan N.F.F.C (@jjfizz) February 1, 2016
#nffc if we get a fully fit Andy Reid next season it'll feel like a quality new signing if not then we should wish him the best of luck— neil marshall (@neilmarshall41) February 5, 2016
Please just retire, Andy Reid! He's 34 this summer! If he's given another contract, I will be utterly dismayed. #nffc— Hannah Dexter (@hannahforest) February 5, 2016
Real shame how Reid's career has ended given how good he was in 13/14 before his injuries, he's been done for over a year now though #NFFC— Jon (@JonSumjons) February 5, 2016
#nffc worryingly with the Reid situation with the position the club are in its wasted a squad place,a decision should of been made with him— Dave Garner (@Dave_Garner68) February 5, 2016
