Nottingham Forest boss Dougie Freedman opens up about Kyle Ebecilio's spell at the club

The Dutchman failed to deliver at the City Ground.

Nottingham Forest's hopes of making moves on transfer deadline day were seemingly impacted by the position of Kyle Ebecilio.

It was thought that the club had cancelled his loan deal but the Dutch midfielder was in fact still with Forest on loan from FC Twente.

That meant issues for Forest, who are under a transfer embargo, and therefore struggled to bring in another new loan signing.

In the end they did shift him on. Ebecilio moved on to ADO Den Haag, clearing up a space in the squad.

Now the Nottingham Forest boss has spoken to BBC Nottingham about Ebecilio's spell at the City Ground - and he clearly is disappointed that the former Arsenal man did not take off at the club:

"Kyle Ebecilio was a player that I knew of at Arsenal. I tracked him at Arsenal and in Holland. I highly recommended him to the chairman. Unfortunately for the team, for the club and for young Kyle himself it didn't quite work out.

"That can happen at times."

Ebecilio struggled with his fitness during his City Ground spell and with Gary Gardner arriving on loan from Aston Villa - and Chris Cohen and Robert Tesche back to full fitness, Forest simply did not need him.

The 21-year-old played just five games for Forest in that time but he will now hope to get back to his best at ADO.
