No one could argue Danny Simpson staying at Newcastle United or QPR would have made them Premier League title contenders.

But then who would have thought Danny Simpson leaving QPR for Leicester City would see the defender sit top of the Premier League - having just beaten Manchester City 3-1?

Indeed, there was plenty of interest from Newcastle and QPR fans on Saturday afternoon as the 29-year-old played a big part in Leicester's historic win at the Etihad Stadium.

Leicester are now five points clear at the top of the standings and Simpson is one of the many players discarded by former clubs that are simply thriving with the Foxes.

At Newcastle, Simpson wasn't deemed good enough. They're battling against relegation. At QPR, Simpson wasn't deemed good enough. They're mid-table in the Championship.
