Sunderland played out a 2-2 draw with Liverpool away from home at Anfield in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.
The Black Cats were 2-0 down after 70 minutes, but they staged a sensational comeback to pick up a point.
Adam Johnson’s free kick and Jermain Defoe’s finish from 10 yards saw Sam Allardyce’s side earn the draw.
Former Sunderland star Gray has taken to Twitter to express his delight at the final result.
Great comeback lads... A point that could go a long way come the end of the season #SAFC— michael gray (@mickygray33) February 6, 2016
Sunderland are second from bottom in the Premier League table at the moment with 20 points from 25 matches.
The Black Cats are four points behind 17th-placed Newcastle United and are in danger of getting relegated to the Championship at the end of the season.
However, the draw against Liverpool at Anfield will have boosted the Sunderland players’ confidence, and that is something that they will need in the coming weeks.
