Manuel Pellegrini's side are currently in the race alongside Leicester City and Arsenal.
Manuel Pellegrini’s side are currently firmly in the race for the title but lost ground on surprise leaders Leicester City when the Foxes beat them 3-1.
It is looking to be one of the closest title races in recent years, but many are expecting City to go on a run now as they aim to give their manager a perfect send off before he is replaced by Pep Guardiola in the summer.
Owen though, says that he believes City having the squad strength will be the deciding factor in the title race.
“I certainly think they’ve got the best squad,” he told premierleague.com.
“Aguero will be key, if they can keep him fit, which is a big if, then I think he’ll fire them to victory. Obviously getting Vincent Kompany him back fit is important.”
“They’ve won it before in recent times as well, so the manager knows what to expect.”
If City are to win the title this season, there is no denying that keeping the aforementioned duo of Aguero and Kompany fully fit will be key to that.
In fact, the Belgian is perhaps more important to the side, with them capable of scoring goals when Aguero is out of the side with several stars in their squad able to step up in his absence.
Without Kompany though, they look weak at the back and sorely miss is leadership skills, and will be hoping to have him back for the title run in at the least.
