Manchester City were hammered 3-1 at home by Leicester City today.
Manchester City's title hopes took a huge blow earlier today, as they were beaten 3-1 by Leicester City at the Etihad Stadium.
First travelled to take on second this afternoon, and it was the Foxes who came out on top with a stunning performance to shock City.
Two goals from Robert Huth either side of a superb strike from Riyad Mahrez put Leicester 3-0 up, before Sergio Aguero pulled back a late consolation for City.
Many will believe that the announcement of Pep Guardiola's move to become City manager at the end of the season was the reason for City's no-show, but Manuel Pellegrini saw too many of his key players struggle - including Yaya Toure and David Silva.
Both players have been synonymous with City's rise to challenging for the title, and have been two of the Premier League's best players ever since arriving in the summer of 2010 from Barcelona and Valencia respectively.
Now though, they're both in their 30's, and the wear and tear is starting to show on two players who looked lethargic against Leicester.
Fans took to Twitter to state that, sadly, Silva and Toure are ultimately coming to the end of their time at the Etihad Stadium, and believe City-bound Guardiola could shift both players out of the club in the summer.
Fans were cautious to criticise two players who have meant so much to the club over the years, but there was a sense that today's performance showed they can't be relied upon regularly anymore - and supporters were certainly sad about that prospect, whilst questioning just how the duo have regressed so much.
Here are some of the reactions from City fans on Twitter after Silva and Toure's performances against Leicester...
Silva - way off his best, looked lightweight, wanted too long on the ball & looked disinterested at times!! #MCFC— Stockport Eagles JFC (@stockporteagles) February 6, 2016
Silva been poor for a while now. Don't get all misty eyed and sentimental about it blues. #mcfc— Leighton Royston (@LROYSTON) February 6, 2016
Another one under performing for some reason? Silva #MCFC— Adie Mike (@AdieMike24) February 6, 2016
Silva had some fine moments in first-half but overall he's got less influence on the game than he had in previous seasons. #mcfc— Petr Hrubý (@petr_hruby) February 6, 2016
I'll never forget what Yaya and Silva have done for city-just hope this end of season doesn't tarnish the memories #mcfc— Marko (@SopranoCrew) February 6, 2016
Yaya the scapegoat but what has happened to Silva. #MCFC— Alistair Shaw (@ALIESHAW68) February 6, 2016
Yaya shouldn't be in the starting 11, past his best and obviously he doesn't care anymore.. #mcfc— Robert (@MCFC_Robert) February 6, 2016
And so ends Yaya Toure's #mcfc career, fading out to nothing.— Neil Sherwin (@neilsherwin) February 6, 2016
