The former Liverpool defender made the comment following Mahrez’s stunning performance against Manchester City away from home at the Etihad Stadium in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.
The 24-year-old winger started the game and played for 77 minutes, as the Foxes registered a 3-1 victory.
The Algeria international scored a goal, had a pass accuracy of 47%, created one chance, put in two crosses, attempted eight dribbles, and won two blocks.
Carragher believes that Mahrez is now the frontrunner for the PFA Player of the Year award.

The win against City means that Leicester are now six points clear at the top of the Premier League table.
Mahrez has been one of the best players for the Foxes, and he is certainly one of the main candidates for the PFA Player of the Year award.
The winger, though, will face competition, probably from Arsenal’s Mesut Ozil, Leicester striker Jamie Vardy and West Ham United’s Dimitri Payet.
