Charlie Austin reacts on Twitter to Southampton's win over West Ham

Charlie Austin

The Southampton forward came on against West Ham but couldn't quite net.

Charlie Austin praised goalscorer Maya Yoshida on Twitter after Southampton beat West Ham United 1-0 on Saturday afternoon.

Indeed, a cagey game saw the 26-year-old come on for Southampton late on, although he himself could not net against the Hammers.

Yoshida did, though, and Austin lavished praise on his team-mate on Twitter.

There was plenty of talk among West Ham fans about whether they should move for Austin last summer and this January but he is now at St Mary's.

Meanwhile, Fraser Forster - also known simply as a brick wall - took to Twitter, as well, praising Yoshida and lauding Southampton's fighting spirit.

West Ham simply couldn't beat the Saints shot stopper, who was once again utterly superb in between the sticks.

It is no coincidence Forster's return from injury has worked in tandem with a boost in form for Southampton. Will they be leapfrogging West Ham in the Premier League table any time soon?
