Celtic round-up: Scott Brown slams Sky Sports pundit, Deila speaks candidly about Lawwell

The latest news stories surrounding Scottish champions Celtic.

Celtic captain Scott Brown has slammed Sky Sports pundit Andy Walker for his constant criticism of his former club, according to the Glasgow Evening Times.

Indeed, the criticism has poured in at Parkhead of late, with Ronny Deila's side knocked out of the Scottish League Cup - to add to their Europa League failure earlier this season - and most recently losing to Aberdeen in the Scottish Premiership.

But Brown is refusing to take any stick from Walker.

He said: "Whatever he says nobody really takes heart of it anyway, because all he does is criticise Celtic for being a former player. You don't see other ex pros doing that about their teams so his opinions don't really count."

Meanwhile, boss Deila has been discussing Celtic chief executive Peter Lawwell.

He believes Lawwell provides him with 'safety' and is understanding of Deila's situation at Parkhead.

The Norwegian is quoted as saying by the GET: "Peter has lots of experience and provides safety for a manager. It’s so important that the board and everybody are working together.

"Peter is understanding of my situation all the time. He knows Celtic because he has been here so many years. He is very experienced and a very strong and intelligent man. We are honest with each other and that’s what’s important. That’s a positive."

Celtic are in action in the Scottish Cup this weekend as they pursue a league and cup double - which feels almost like it would be a consolation at this point.

After that, the Hoops host Ross County then Inverness in the league.
