Arsenal’s Aaron Ramsey labels Jamie Vardy as his toughest opponent

Jamie Vardy

The Leicester City striker is currently the top goalscorer in the Premier League.

Arsenal’s Aaron Ramsey says that Leicester City’s Jamie Vardy is the toughest opponent he has faced this season, in comments to Complex.

The striker has been in fine form this season, leading the Premier League’s goalscoring charts with 18 goals to his name this season.

That tally has seen him break Ruud Van Nistelrooy’s record of goals scored in successive league games as he managed to scored in 11 consecutive games earlier in the campaign.

And Ramsey says that he struggled to cope with Vardy when their two sides clashed earlier in the campaign.

“I’d say Vardy,” he told Complex when asked about his most difficult opponent.

“He’s been unbelievable so far and what he’s done, scoring in 11 straight games, is absolutely remarkable.”

“Full credit to him. When you look at where he started off to where he is now, it’s been a great story.”

While admitting his admiration for Vardy this season, Ramsey will surely be hoping he struggles in the remaining games this season.

The Foxes are now firmly among Arsenal’s rivals for the title this season, with them currently eight points ahead of the Gunners after Saturday’s 3-1 win over Manchester City.

Vardy has been key to that rise to the top of the table, with them having struggled when he was out of the side injured or out of form.

Ramsey will be hoping a similar thing happens in the thirteen games left to give his side a chance of catching the Foxes, who currently look like running away with a surprise Premier League title.
