The Gunners are currently fourth in the table but very much in the title race this season.
The goalkeeper is currently on a season-long loan in Serie A with Roma as he was likely to have struggled for game time this season.
That was because of the arrival of Petr Cech from Chelsea, with the veteran 'keeper having instantly commanded the first choice spot at the Emirates.
In his absence the Czech Republic goalkeeper has impressed and the Gunners are very much in the title race as a result, with many believing Cech has been the difference.
And while he wants his side to win the title, Szczesny says he believes he may end up looking like an idiot as a result.
“I watch all Arsenal games of course,” he told the Polish national team’s YouTube channel.
“And I hope they will be champions, honestly. I spoke to Theo Walcott and told him they have to win it, but it’s going to make me look like some kind of idiot!”
“They never won it when I was there and now, ‘Oh look, Szczesny is gone so it’s obvious what the problem was’. I’m joking, but maybe it’s true after all.”
While Szczesny may be joking about his presence in the side being a problem, the goalkeeping department was an issue before the arrival of Cech.
He though has improved that this season, with his impressive performances and commanding presence having helped them to boast one of the best defensive records in the league.
That means that if the Polish 'keeper returns in the summer, he may have to content himself with a place on the bench once again.
