Pundit offers his opinion on Aiden McGeady and Sheffield Wednesday

Aiden McGeady

Aiden McGeady joined Sheffield Wednesday on loan from Everton on transfer deadline day.

Former Brighton & Hove Albion player Adam Virgo suggested on social networking site Twitter that Aiden McGeady will be a success at Sheffield Wednesday.

Championship side Wednesday signed McGeady on loan from Premier League club Everton in the January transfer window until the end of the season.

The 29-year-old winger was struggling for playing time at the Toffees, and he will hope to get some games for the Owls between now and the end of the season.

Virgo believes that Republic of Ireland international will prove to be a good signing for Wednesday, and suggested that the Owls are now strong contenders for the playoffs.

McGeady made his debut for Wednesday against Burnley at the Hillsborough Stadium on Tuesday evening. The winger came on as a substitute in the 87th minute, as the Championship game ended in a 1-1 draw.

Wednesday are seventh in the Championship table at the moment with 47 points from 29 matches, just a point behind sixth-placed Ipswich Town.
