The Arsenal forward says he enjoys the physical battle with the pair of defenders.
The striker has been in fine form for the Gunners this season, leading their goalscoring charts with 18 goals in all competitions, 12 of which have come in the Premier League.
At times he has offered Arsene Wenger’s side the complete striker, playing the role of fine finisher as well as a target man in the tougher, more physical games.
And he says he enjoys that physical battle with defenders, revealing that Chelsea’s Gary Cahill and Stoke City’s Ryan Shawcross are the two Premier League defenders who always guarantee a tough battle.
"I enjoy the battle, it's always correct and with fair play and at the end of the game we always shake hands and say 'well done',” he told arsenal.com.
“It's always done in a good mood. Especially with Gary Cahill at Chelsea it's always a tough battle, very physical, and with people like Ryan Shawcross too.
"They are very strong, and play a lot with their bodies so it's always nice to compete with them."
While admitting that he enjoys the battle with defenders, Giroud will secretly be hoping he won’t need to do so too much in the remaining games this season.
The Gunners are at their best when they are allowed to play the free flowing football they prefer and have often struggled with the physical battles against the likes of Stoke.
Admittedly they have improved in that department this season, but will be hoping they don’t have to compete that way too often as they eye the title.
