The 25-year-old netted his penalty for Barnsley but drew a mixed response from watching Leeds fans.
Leeds United fans took interest in Sam Winnall's performance for Barnsley on Thursday night.
Leeds bid £300,000 for the forward, as reported by the Yorkshire Evening Post, during the January transfer window and a war of words ensued between the two clubs.
Watching on as Winnall netted his penalty for Barnsley during a shootout but also produced a shocking miss during normal time, Leeds fans had plenty to say about the 25-year-old.
Some were impressed but some delighted the Whites didn't end up landing the forward.
The split in opinion sums up a debate going on among Leeds fans right now. Half seem happy the club are being far more sensible in the transfer market now and not going out of their way to sign duds.
The other half, however, are questioning the club's ambition and there seems to be a lot of renewed frustration towards Massimo Cellino - and new frustration aimed at Steve Evans. Here's how Leeds supporters reacted on Twitter to Winnall's performance on Thursday night:
I like the look of Winnall. Shame we didn't offer actual money for him #lufc— Ian McMullen (@cadillacjukebox) February 4, 2016
After watching 70 mins of Winnall I disagree with S Evans, 300k is way to much for him— Mick (@mickmcgowan1959) February 4, 2016
