Walker’s form has been considerably improved this season, and his performances have become a lot more reliable.
The England international is arguably having the most consistent campaign he has had since moving to White Hart Lane back in 2009.
And Walker said: “It’s fantastic to play under him. He’s taught me personally a lot and I think I’ve matured in terms of my game a bit this season. I think there’s a lot more to come, though!
“The manager is top class and he gets the best out of you – if you aren’t getting the best out of yourself then he’ll let you know and you’ll probably be doing some extra runs or something!”
Prior to Pochettino’s arrival, Walker’s form had been rather erratic, and there was always a feeling that he could make a mistake.
However, the 25-year-old has now proved to be very reliable, and he has helped Tottenham keep the best defensive record of any side in the Premier League.
Spurs have built their success this season upon the strength of their backline, and it has elevated them into top four contention.
As things stand, the Lilywhites are in third place in England’s top flight, and they have built up a five point advantage over fifth placed Manchester United.
