Tottenham are fighting to win the Premier League title this season.
Speaking to talkSPORT, former Spurs defender Chris Hughton has shared his thoughts on Tottenham’s challenge for the title, admitting that they are benefitting from the depth they possess in the number 10 position.
Hughton said: “The benefit they’ve got is that they’ve got a few players who can play in that number 10 role - Dele Alli’s been a massive plus for them this season. I think they’ve got a good enough squad to sustain what they are doing.”
Spurs are currently sitting in third place in the Premier League table, ahead of local rivals Arsenal, and just five points behind league leaders Leicester City.
They are in great form right now, with all the players in Mauricio Pochettino’s squad chipping in with strong performances, and Hughton believes the strength in depth in the attacking midfield positions is Spurs’ greatest asset.
Dele Alli has excelled in that central number 10 role, whilst Christian Eriksen, Heung-Min Son, Mousa Dembele and Ryan Mason have all also played there that season as well.
Harry Kane can even drop deeper and create play, just as well as he can finish off chances as the lone striker.
Tottenham’s squad was largely unheralded at the start of the season, with many seeing the potential but not the immediate impact these players could have.
However, they have broken free of all expectations, and the Lilywhites look like real contenders for the Premier League title.
