Arsenal fell behind in the title race last weekend.
The Gunners’ 0-0 draw with Southampton last weekend was their fourth straight league game without a win, a result which saw the North London side drop to fourth behind rivals Tottenham Hotspur on goal difference.
Big improvements are a must for Arsenal if they still harbour hops of winning the title, and Wenger says his side must focus on themselves before highlighting as many as six teams who are still contenders.
“We are in a position where we have to come back first - to win games - which we haven’t been doing recently. We have to look at the facts as they are. We haven’t won in four games,” Wenger said.
“We want to get back to winning and then look at the results of the others. Look at yourself and get back to what you want to do, and to do that you have to win your next game.”
“You look at the table and you can say as many as five or six [can win it]. It makes it interesting - even if we would love it to be a bit less interesting but it is the case and we have to deal with that.”
Arsenal topped the Premier League table heading in to the New Year, yet their disappointing run of form has now seen them fall five points behind league leaders Leicester City.
Moreover, rivals Tottenham Hotspur’s good form has seen them leapfrog the Gunners on goal difference – and momentarily earning the bragging rights in the north of the capital.
Wenger’s side have a near fully fit squad after a wretched run with injuries, but any more dropped points over the next few matches could see it being a case of too little, too late in their title quest.
