Former Italy international Andrea Pirlo says Arsenal playmaker Mesut Ozil is the most creative player in Europe at present, the London Evening Standard report.
Pirlo, now plying his trade with New York City, names Ozil in his Premier League best eleven and tells reporters how the German international has a vision like no other in Europe.
“[Ozil is] maybe the most creative player in Europe right now. [He] creates an unbelievable amount of chances for attackers playing ahead of him,” LES quote Pirlo as saying.
“He has vision like nobody else in Europe.”
Ozil has had a number of doubters following his club record transfer fee from Real Madrid, especially in his first campaign at the club following a dramatic loss of form.
Many pundits and observers felt the former Werder Bremen favourite was incapable of displaying his best form against the better teams, yet that has since been proven entirely untrue.
Ozil has been the most creative player in England bar none this season, posting a remarkable 16 Premier League assists thus far and averaging 4.5 key passes per league encounter.
The 27-year-old has been driving Arsenal on in Alexis Sanchez’s absence with injury, becoming the focal point of their attacking moves and illustrating exactly why the club paid so heavily for him.
Ozil deserves to win a Premier League title for his efforts this season, yet his side are currently falling a little short and without a change in fortunes they may ultimately miss out come May.
